We are pleased to announce that, for the sixth year in a row, the “Teaching Tolerance through English” summer camp is held in Balatonelle, Hungary. From July 30 through August 13, 2011, 60 students (ages 11-13) and 12 English as a Foreign Language teachers from Estonia, Lithuania, Kosovo, Montenegro, Romania, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia, and Hungary are coming to Balatonlelle to participate in a variety of athletic, theatrical, artistic and educational activities designed to further their understanding of and tolerance towards each other’s cultures while enhancing their English language skills. The educational programs are facilitated by two American teacher trainers, Mary Lou McCloskey, PhD, and Lydia Stack, MA, both of whom are well respected textbook writers, teacher educators and teachers. They are useing American as well as regional literature, songs, skits, games and language teaching strategies throughout the program. The athletic and artistic program are facilitated by an experienced camp director from the U.S., and nine camp counselors. After the two-week camp, students and teachers will continue to work on joint projects via e-mail and exchange visits.
